About Assamese Music:

The music of Assam comprises different kinds of people and current music, drawing its imaginative premise from the historical backdrop of Assam, from Assamese culture and its antiquated customs. As of late, from the last part of the eighties, famous artists have modernized the music taking into account nearby well-known interests.

The tunes are organized in a pyramid and are inconsistently in pentatonic scale like other customary music of Asia like China, Mongolia, and so on and different from the seven-scaled Indian music, (rather than the music of the rest of India which is Meend based),[4] like the Bihu tunes, (regular in South-East Asia and East Asia) other than languorous music of different structures.

The legend of Princess Usha of Sonitpur and her companion Chitralekha likewise illuminate us on the musical ability of the Assamese women.[citation needed] The authorities nonetheless, have isolated the old-style Assamese music into two sections – Borgeet and Ojapali. The arrangers of Borgeets, Sankardev, and his follower Madhavdev added flexibility to Assamese music.
