Madhusmita Dihingia was born in Geleky located at Sivasagar district (Assam), to Dulu Dihingia and Lakhimoni Dihingia on 17 January. Now she lives in Kahilipara, Guwahati with her father, mother, and younger brother. She has also another name Debojita. She has lots of nicknames. Amrita's father called her Maina and her mother called her Janmunu and Kobita. 

Madhusmita Dihingia did her schooling (Class LKG and UKG) at Sivsagar. School. Then she moved to Assam Jatiya Vidyalaya Ganeshguri, Guwahati. She completed her class 10th there.  After that, she admitted to B Borooah college and took arts stream in class 11th and 12th classes. She completed her B.A degree in Assamese literature from B Borooah college.  

Madhusmita Dihingia is pursuing her MA (M.A in Assamese literature) at Cotton University, Guwahati (2020).

Madhusmita Dihingia is a professional Bihu dancer. When she was small, she used to learn Bihu Dance. She first went to the stage for a performing dance at Sivasagar. She used to attend a dance competition in Guwahati. She also went to Uttar Pradesh with her group to compete in Dance and Acting. She did her first stage drama acting at Uttar Pradesh. The name of the drama was 'Jote Prem Tate Bhagawan'. There, she won Junior Best Actress. 

Her first experience in front of the camera was on a show of Doordarshan.

Madhusmita Dihingia acted in many video songs and Assamese serials. Her first video song was 'Panidoia Jaapi'. Some other video songs are Nai nai guarantee, etc.

Her first Assamese serial was 'Indradhanu'. But she got a small role. Then she acted in 'Bharaghar'.

Madhusmita Dihingia’s most popular Assamese serials include ' Baruah Xonkhar', Indradhanu, Bharaghar, Anekoi Bhangene, Ardhangini, Damini, and Boroxa Jetiya Naame.

She is now on Assamese Serial T.V Serial 'Boroxa Jetiya Naame' (2021).
