Then she graduated in Law from J.B Law College, Guwahati.
Chimi learnt Kathak dance in class 9. She also went to drama school. From small age, she was fond of acting.

She first appeared in a video song of Dimasa (Dima-Hasao). She got an offer from Hengul Theatre when she was pursuing law. But she rejected due to her study and her parents also said to concentrate more on study. Again next time she got an offer from Hengul Theatre but this time she accepted.
After that, she had appeared in a small role in Assamese Serial Xopunor Asutiya Rong. After that, she appeared in Assamese mega serial 'Kun Mur Apun'. She became totally bald in 'Kun Mur Apun'. She was the first actress in Assamese Serial Industry to become bald due to the demanding character.
Then she appeared in mega serial 'Ostitto' and 'Monor Nijanot Junak' in Rengoni channel.
Now she is appearing in mega serial 'Doiboki' at Rang Channel.
